RetrO® Dialysis Catheter

Features

High Flow. Kink-resistant.
Retrograde Tunneling.

Integrating proven catheter design principles, the patented RetrO® Catheter was developed to improve vascular access and enhance therapy for dialysis patients.

Precise Placement

  • Precise tip placement due to retrograde tunnel insertion
  • Elimination of sheath dilator with SafeTrac® dual wire
    insertion technique

Unique Design

  • Bench test demonstrated 500 mL/min1 flow rates on average due to optimally shaped double-round lumen design
  • Bench test demonstrated recirculation of approximately 1% on average in forward and reverse due to split tips with 360° side holes which provide alternate flow paths1
  • Customizable extension leg length

Safety and Longevity

  • Kink-resistant geometry permits catheter to follow tortuous path
  • Convenient repair with replaceable extension adapters
  • Excellent biocompatibility and patient comfort with radiopaque silicone material

Frequently Asked Questions

What is retrograde placement and how does it differ from antegrade placement?

Retrograde placement allows the placer to position the catheter tip in the desired anatomical location before creation of the tunnel tract. This differs from antegrade placement where the catheter tip is placed in the desired location after creation of the tunnel tract. As a result, retrograde placement may allow for more accurate tip placement.

What are the benefits of an oval catheter design?

The RetrO® double-O lumen design offers high flow rates of 500 mL/min on average and due to its geometry is highly kink resistant.

What are the benefits of the SafeTrac® Dual Wire Insertion Kit?

The SafeTrac® insertion reduces the potential for problems associated with sheath/dilator insertion, such as air embolism, vessel trauma, and excess bleeding.

Does the repair kit allow for both (or either) the arterial and venous to be replaced?

The repair kit for the RetrO® Long-Term Hemodialysis Catheter provides a replacement arterial and venous lumen in one product code. This is advantageous because only one product code has to be stocked and it gives clinicians the flexibility to repair either catheter with just one repair kit.

Do the RetrO® Catheter kits contain latex?

No, the product and packaging do not contain natural rubber latex.

Do the RetrO® Catheter kits contain DEHP?

No. The product does not contain DEHP.

Are there any contradictions or warnings with this product?

This catheter is intended for long-term vascular access only and should not be used for any purpose other than that indicated in the instructions for use.
